At the start of the new millennium, US editor-journalist David Brooks, coined the term ‘Bobo’, meaning an amalgamation of bourgeois and bohemian to describe the main aspects of a new modern upper-middle class. His proposition was that in the 21st century this new class is one that combines the values of the artist and intellectual with those of the wealthier traditional class, to produce a new class with a different approach to the finer things in life.
